My name is Sharma Barker, i am 38 years old and a mother of 4 beautiful children aged 16,14,3 and 1 years old. I use to train 10 years ago but never thought of lifting until now and i love it.

After having my last child during lockdown i decided to get back into the gym. My pregnancy was terrible during these terrible times.

I had placenta previa (baby was covering my cervics and i bleed from 24 weeks) i had a bulge in my tummy and something called Diastasis recti, which means your belly sticks out because of the space between your left and right belly muscles has widened. I could fit 3 fingers between this space. I also had gestational diabetes which led me to go on a strict diet and had to keep a dairy of my bloods everytime i ate. I really struggled being pregnant during lockdown as you can imagine. Baby came early as you never go full term with these conditions. 2 days after lockdown (25/03/2020) we remained in hospital until the end of April. Me and baby are well, safe at home now. I felt i needed to get fit again and ended up back in the gym. i have always been quite muscly on my upper body and have veiny arms. I have now learnt to embrace them. since lifting i have more definition and love my body now. Not too masculine. A friend reccommened that i do bodybuilding and here i am. looking forwards to my first show on the 5th September and excited to meet new people. This is the beginning of my journey.
